First/last name: Delyth Aethelwyrd
Gender: Female
Age: 78
Ethnicity: Welsh (and a little Gypsy, somewhere down the line…)
Occupation: writer, cantankerous old coot, slightly psychic oddball, widow, property manager, ghost hunter, collector, and aristocrat
Appearance: Delyth is an old woman who looks even older than she is. She has long, gray hair that she wears fashionably in all sorts of wild styles. However, when at home, she keeps her hair in a silver braid that reaches the floor. Her face is a mass of wrinkles and her teeth are yellow and crooked. She has a smile that makes people feel uncomfortable around her, and her eyes have a disturbing luminescent quality. Her fingers are long and look like owl talons, complete with sharp nails. Her nose is long and hooked, like a beak. (This fact never stopped her from having many suitors.) However, despite her age, she is unusually strong and sturdy, almost to a frightening degree. She wears excessive jewelry, all of which is very strange and marked with symbols and runes. She carries a silver-headed cane with her wherever she goes, and a pistol with silver bullets is hidden in a pocket in her nickers. There is a secret faux pocket in every one of her skirts that enables her to pull out the pistol from time to time. She dresses fashionably, though eccentrically, and fancies older styles. She loves hats, and has one for every day of the year. She also wears beautiful combs in her hair. However, her boots are actually man’s boots (she has very large feet), and have steel toes and heels: perfect for crushing the feet of insolent nobles. She also has a black umbrella that has an uncannily sharp point. She uses it to torment the people sitting in front of her on railway trains.
Personality: Delyth is commanding and elegant. She knows how to make an entrance. Even though not physically attractive (and she never was). Her word is law, and she can become terrifying when disobeyed. She hates to be interrupted, but constantly interrupts. She is opinionated, arrogant, and enjoys insulting and irritating others. However, to her friends she is friendly and loyal. If a friend wanted her to get up at midnight and sail to Peru to deliver a large sum of her own money to a starving mutual friend, she would do it. But, if anyone crosses her, woe to them. Also, woe to anyone who sits behind her on railway trains, for her umbrella knows no mercy. She also loves stomping on the feet of rich people and spoiled children, and hearing their bones crack. She smokes constantly, puffing great clouds from her pipe and into the faces of others. She is very vain and flirtatious, even at her age. She is extremely self centered and as obstinate as a German mule in politics. She is very eloquent and well read, and is not afraid to insult those who are not. On the whole, she is generally disagreeable, but there is a strange charisma about her that makes people like her.
History: Delyth Aethelwyrd was born Cailey Mary Williams, and only changed her name when she took up novel writing. Her parents were rich, and she grew up in luxury, going to fine schools in England and France. She learned a great deal and, at the age of seventeen, she published her first book, The Death Upon the Night, which was about a cannibalistic serial killer. She was a very homely girl, but enjoyed the company and romances of forty-seven suitors, and eventually three husbands (all of whom she nagged to death). She had no children, due to an unfortunate accident that left her barren. As a result, she was able to excessively indulge herself and invest her money. Eventually, she owned properties all over the globe and spent her life traveling, writing, and reporting or causing scandals (depending on her mood). When she suffered a fall (from a tree she was climbing in the Amazon) and broke her favorite hairpin, she decided that the sacrifices of a wild life were too great. She left to retire in Paris at the grand age of seventy-one. There, she spends her time pestering and annoying others, frequenting the opera (and threatening to withdraw her patronage at a moment’s notice), and poking her oversized nose into places it should never be poked into, such as the fifth cellar. Oh, did I mention that she loves ghosts, and, well, anything paranormal? Oh, yes, she is the leader of a club of paranormal fanatics.
Other: Delyth loves animals and has a menagerie in her home.

XD I don't know if you yourself are psychic, but we've got a sadistic paranormal-enthusiastic Marquis in the group, a bored widowed Duchess (20 years old and a former courtesan), and soon shall have a recently-banished Gitane here, so you have no idea how much playing you're going to get.

What was the unfortunate accident that left her barren? And if it's unfortunate, what's her view towards it? She seems as though she would have a particular stance towards children, and it seems tied in with her dislike of spoiled ones and her love of animals (in spite of her disagreeableness). I think this could add greater depth to a quirky character (not that I find anything to be wrong with her. I'm a character fanatic, just ask anyone).

Yes, I was definitely thinking Uriel and Charlotte. Uriel might even respect her. That would be weird.

*and happy belated 1000th post ~ yea!*

Oml, Uriel actually gets to talk to someone without Sarrin glaring at Brandi for attempts at conquering/destroying self-esteem/dominating--oh joy!

^^ I'm just teasing you, of course. Or am I?
